.Philosophy and Goals of the School The ultimate objective of Catholic Education may be summed up in the words of Pope Pius XI: "The proper and immediate end of Christian Education is to cooperate with divine grace in forming the true and perfect Christian, that is, to form Christ himself in those regenerated by Baptism. For precisely this reason, Christian Education takes in the whole aggregate of human life-physical and spiritual, intellectual, moral, domestic and social - not with a view of reducing in anyway, but in order to elevate, regulate and perfect it in accordance with example and teaching of Christ." |
Daily Prayer At Saint Augustine
O Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer you my prayers., works, joys and suffering of this day. In union with the holy sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world, I offer them for the intentions of your Sacred Heart, for the salvation of souls, and the reunion of all Christians. I offer them for the intentensions of our Bishops and all the Apostles of Prayer, and in particular for those recommended by the Holy Father this month. Amen |

The Sisters of the Holy Spirit believe that a "Holy Spirit" Philosophy of education: 1. Reflects Gospel values. 2. Emphasizes education of the whole person. 3. Provides a healthy educational climate. 4. Recognizes cooperative effort. 5. Identifies and trains quality teachers. St. Augustine School tries to achieve the above goals through practical application of the following objectives: 1. Religion, rather than being taught as an isolated subject, is the unifying force of all knowledge. 2. Physical fitness and mental health are to be promoted as having a direct bearing upon intellectual growth. 3. The social and cultural development of the child is a responsibility, which the school SHARES with the parents. 4. The curriculum is so designed to include opportunities for all students to learn about and appreciate all cultures. 5. Opportunities are provided for training the child in habits of respect toward all people. |
